Dr Nicholson has always had an interest in an holistic approach to health, and undertook her medical studies alongside training in complementary and natural medicine.

In 2000, after a number of hospital and General Practice posts, she completed her postgraduate GP training and was awarded a Certificate of Prescribed Experience from the Joint Committee on Postgraduate Training for General Practice, and also gained Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners with merit. Following this, she became a GP partner at a busy NHS training practice until opening the Centre for Balanced Medicine in 2006. She also holds Diplomas in Natural Healing, Progressive Counselling and Transformation Hatha Yoga Teaching, and Teaching Certificates in Aqua Yoga and Meditation Foundation. She has completed a two year training programme in Allergy, Nutritional and Environmental Medicine with the British Society for Ecological Medicine. Dr Nicholson has held full Registration with the General Medical Council since 1997, and is a member of the International Self-Realization Healing Association.
Dr Nicholson has spent some years developing the concept of Balanced Medicine, which reflects her belief in the need for health care which is broad in its scope, whilst reflecting the whole needs of each individual. When not seeing patients, she can be found playing her harp or tending the Centre’s vegetable garden.
